The 5-Step Press Guide

Heat Press
  1. Pre-press your garment

Press for 3–5 seconds to remove any moisture or wrinkles. This gives your transfer a clean, even surface to bond to.

  2. Position your transfer

Place your transfer color side up on the garment, exactly where you want the final design to sit. Double-check placement before you press — it's your only shot.

  3. Press

Apply medium, even pressure at 300–320°F for 10–15 seconds.

*Time and temperature can vary slightly by material — always test before pressing.

  4. Warm peel

IdeaMax transfers are warm peel — once it's safe to touch, you can peel it carefully.

  5. Final press

Place parchment paper over the transfer and press for another 5 seconds to set it fully. This locks the design in for the long run.

Aftercare

Caring for Your Transfer

Turn inside out

Wash garments inside out to protect the print surface.

Cold water only

Wash in cold water to preserve color and adhesion.

Avoid bleach & softener

Both break down the transfer over time.

Skip high-heat drying

Air dry or use low heat to protect vibrancy long-term.

Troubleshooting

Something not right?

Transfer not sticking?

Lay it back down and press again with a little more pressure and heat (+15°F). If it's still not sticking, keep increasing heat in 15°F increments. Repeated pressing won't damage the transfer, so don't be afraid to try again.

Garment burning or scorching?

First, reduce your pressure. If that doesn't solve it, keep the lower pressure and reduce heat by 10–15°F. Every garment is a little different — a few test presses will help you dial in the right settings.
